We are proud to announce the release of Skybrush Studio for Blender 3.4.0, bringing you improvements to the popular dynamic light effects panel and the real-time safety warnings. Below is a list of some of the highlighted features. For more details check out the changelog.
Inverted spatial constraints #
The Light Effects panel has had support for spatial constraints for a while, allowing you to limit a light effect to the interior of a mesh or to the positive side of a plane. Now you can also invert the spatial constraints, making it possible to exclude a spatial region from a light effect, letting the previous effects in the effect stack to shine through.
Mesh deformation support for spatial constraints #
The “Inside the mesh” spatial constraint type did not take into account the deformations of the associated mesh in earlier versions – it always worked with the undeformed mesh. This is now changed: mesh deformations are taken into account. Our own tests and feedback from the members of the community who used the development version of the plugin indicated that this does not have a significant overhead in processing time, therefore the feature is enabled by default. If you are running into performance issues with shows having lots of light effects with “Inside the mesh” spatial constraints, let us know!
Safety warnings colored by warning type #
The safety warnings overlay now assigns different colors to warning markers based on the type of the warning. Proximity warnings are colored with red dots, just like in earlier versions. Velocity warnings use yellow dots, while altitude warnings use blue dots.
Providing feedback #
As always, feel free to contact us on Discord for feedback, bug reports, feature requests and ideas. If you would like to report an issue and you know which component of Skybrush is the source of the problem, you can also open an issue in the issue tracker of the corresponding repository on Github.
